She is an active member of the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association (NUCCA) and is fully trained in the NUCCA upper cervical technique, a unique approach to chiropractic care. The NUCCA system is a painless and safe spinal correction which restores body balance and increases the body’s natural healing ability.
Dr Grant graduated Summa Cum Laude from Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, California with her Doctorate of Chiropractic degree. She was Salutatorian of her graduating class and is also listed in the “Who’s Who of American Colleges and Universities”.
As a chiropractic student, Dr Grant had the opportunity to treat patients in Central America; she volunteered several weeks of her time in Managua and surrounding areas. What is the NUCCA upper cervical technique?
The NUCCA chiropractic technique involves aligning the C1 vertebra also known as the Atlas. It is a small donut-like shaped bone located at the top of the spine and the base of the skull that surrounds the brain stem.
When the spine is subjected to stress it can become misaligned, known as the Atlas Subluxation Complex Syndrome (ASC) or the ASC Syndrome.
The NUCCA procedure influences one of the highest control centres over body balance, the brain stem and the central nervous system.
Nerves are responsible for four primary functions:
1. Control and regulate all vital functions including circulation, breathing and digestion.
2. Activate muscles allowing us to move.
3. Allow us to sense, perceive and feel.
4. Relate us to the world outside ourselves including learning, experiencing and behaviour.
A gentle touch and controlled contact on the first vertebrae in the neck is designed to restore balance to the spine. It is a highly advanced procedure that is an extremely precise and gentle technique unlike any other kind of chiropractic treatment.
It corrects the body's posture and to allow the rest of the spine and nervous system to function at its optimal potential.
