Tariq Zaman is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon based at NHS hospitals in London and Middlesex. He offers private orthopaedic surgery at the BMI Clementine Churchill in Harrow and the Cromwell Hospital in London. Mr Zaman specialises in shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand surgery and upper limb trauma.
Mr Zaman MBChB, FRCS (orth) recieved undergraduate training in Scotland. He then had early junior and middle grade orthopaedic posts, at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham and The Major Trauma Centre at The Birmingham Accident Hospital. Following his junior training, he joined the All Wales Orthopaedic Training programme, in which he undertook his Specialist Registrar training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in Wales, which included posts in Swansea, Camarthan, Newport and The Cardiff Royal Infirmary.
Following that he spent 6 months as a Specialist Fellow in the Reading Shoulder Unit, where he worked with S Copeland the designer of the first successful resurfacing joint replacement of the shoulder. He then he undertook an AO Fellowship in Salzburg, training under Professor Resch, the President of the European Shoulder Society.
In 2003 he was admitted onto the Specialist Register of the GMC. Also in 2003 he became a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Ealing Hospital and is now the Departmental Audit Co-ordinator. Mr Zaman was made an Orthopaedic Co-ordinator for Imperial College Medical students, and an examiner for the Imperial College final MB BS examinations. Mr. Zaman is also the Orthopaedic Co-ordinator for the final two years of the course at The British College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Finally Mr. Zaman prides himself on the close care and attention given to each patient as well as close links that he has forged with various physiotherapy colleagues in West London. He lectures regularly to GP colleagues and other paramedical staff in order to improve the understanding and treatment of upper limb problems.
